Should You Use Mineral Wool Insulation?

Mineral wool insulation is one of the options available when they want to protect your home from the elements or to reduce their energy use. This includes the use of rock fibers, which occurs as a by-product of blast furnace process, and as such, highly resistant to heat. Is this a good choice for your home, though? Is it safe and effective?

Let's deal with the issue of safety first. Some people instinctively feel that this type of product to be unsafe, because it sounds similar in approach to asbestos. Finally, it is a great option if the fire safety concerns. Since it comes from the furnace, this material burns at a much higher point than the foam insulation panels, and makes for an effective fire-resistant insulation.

So you need to use mineral wool insulation? Obviously, the answer to this will depend on other options available to you at cost, and what you are trying to achieve. For most applications, however, it is safe, effective option that can have a big impact if you are trying to safe money on your heating or to reduce excess noise.
